SHould have reported him or something
But really whole party wipe? you could have walked back to rezone.... or even just left.
Hell running to yaks isnt that big of a deal you could have just left the started a new group without that retard.
Use heroes I got my Survivor r3 title by simply using heroes and having 1 friend do a mission with me.

Well, it's the same thing with drunkards. Not sure if it works, but to be an asshole to those in Great Temple of Balthazar (those who are talking trash in Local while making an ass of themselves), well...
First, I add them to my team. Then I say one or two lines of 'kiss-ass' to make them feel special or smart. Then I take us to the Isle of Nameless. They lose their drunk status up to that point, I warp back laughing. Bwaha.
As for the Survivor situation, well, that's kind of cruel, yet hilarious at the same time. But, you should have been watching and warped out. If you left the screen, that's your problem.

This reminds me of a time doing the Kodonur Crossroads mission. I was a Monk at the time, and we happened to have a Paragon survivor. In the middle of the mission, we had a Warrior aggroing upto two groups, and so, the Paragon decided to stay out of the battle completely. The battle lasted 10 minutes, and to make it worse, the Paragon had all the ally centaurs with him by staying back. Eventually, both monks ran out of energy, and the death-penalty gained through this battle led to a party wipe about five minutes later in the mission, in which the Paragon decides to stay out completely again, then he leaves.
When we were back into the town, we were quite outraged, but he replied to us that we were just jealous because he has the survivor title, and we can't have it. I guess that explains it, doesn't it?

Survivors are highly stereo-typed because some survivors ruin other people's game by leaving when it gets hard, or when the party begins to die. Then act as though they have attained an amazing achievment by doing so...
I sorta went for survivor, but I decided that I wouldn't leave any games.
Well I PUG'd one time, the guy over-aggro's <End of survivor track>. I've actually never maxed a title in nearly two years of playing so it doesn't really matter to me.

The person that did that was just a noob that has nothing better to do than spoil people's fun. It is just a game and sometimes people actually do need a wake up to that extent, but still what that person did was just stupid.
Some people are just like that and the most likely reason why would be is that those people are probable the ones who always get bullied at school because they are nerds and geeks (I personally hate nerds and geeks for various reasons) so they do the same to other people in-game.

If you've got SS's of the conversation, report the little prick for griefing. Maybe a 72 hour time-out will make him/her behave themselves better in the future.
I agree with everyone about playing your survivor character with ONLY H/H or trusted guildies & friends. Don't go with PUGs in this case.

Welcome to Guild Wars, where jealousy among players is common. Surround yourself with mature good players and you'll be happy, incase of kids in group I suggest leave group.

You pretty much got it.
I was lucky enough to get an internet connection when I was young (mind, this was in the very early 90's when that was unheard of), others were not so lucky. I did a lot of that stuff, I can't say it ever occurred to me to think beyond just goofing off. Teenagers and younger have done that for many hundreds of years - it just seems part of it.
I can't say I was ever mad when I got called out on it though, I knew when I did whatever it was there would be consequences and that was just part of it. I've never understood people who do things like that and seem *genuinely* surprised when they get banned or other punishment (are they lying or that stupid? Sadly I think many are that stupid).
Now? If I am rude to you online then I would do the same thing face to face. Same in game - I treat you as I would expect to be treated (and sometimes that isn't treating you nice either). For the most part I stay away from it and play with H/H, find other older gamers, or play with out of game friends. MUCH less trouble that way. Communicating with others is communicating with others and I tend towards the same ideas, if anything I tend towards more "abrasive" in personal contact simply because saying "you suck" with a smile on your face and other body language indicating a joke doesn't make people angry, saying "you suck" in text lacks all of that and ticks people off.

They should have stayed and taken time to type /report (his name)
While his actions did hurt you by wasteing several hours of your life, 5 griefer reports should have been enough to someone review chat logs, find out truth and wield banhammer.
No point in forum QQ when you had opportunity to remove said person from game and thus help everyone.

I love trolling idiots in game, but ruining someone's Survivor title is pretty lame. I almost lost a friend's survivor title when I was monking under a new set up, thank god rof owns :/

Very good advice, but I'm not sure that it falls into the 5 report categories (leeching, botting, spamming, using abusive language, or having an inappropriate character name), thus that Anet will action this. It's sad because jerks like this should be banned for a week or two (first time, then perma-ban). They ruin the gameplay of others by pure maliciousness, they're selfish kids, and should be given lessons about life.
I think that forums can help by making apparent that something needs to be done about this. Beyond the obvious QQing (I'd be pissed off by this behavior), we have to find a common cause for rooting this behavior out of the game. This is not fun, except to this malicious kid. So between his fun and everyone else's, we need to make this clear to Anet.
Shall we have a petition for adding a 6th report category? E.g., "Malicious behavior"? How to make it sound less subjective?
